Description
The 2020 Yamhill Carlton “Rockstar” Pinot Noir is the only red wine we made this vintage. Our best barrels went into this blend, and we did not make an Atticus Vineyard or XO. It is our “Rockstar”. It displays black tea and earthy brambles and hints of red plums, raspberries, graham crackers and Asian spices. It is delicious. Elegant and serene on the palate, complex and layered. Raised in primarily neutral oak barrels it is composed of 75% Pommard and a balance of Dijon clones 667, 777 and 115. For the first time, some of the “babies” from our 2017 planting went into this blend. Less than 275 cases. 13.6% alcohol.
ATTICUS VINEYARD
The Vineyard which adheres to sustainable farming practices contains Willakenzie soils and sits at an elevation of 300 feet with a south / south-west facing slope. Planted with over 4 acres of Pommard (80%) and Dijon 667 & 777 clones (20%) in 2005, the first vintage from this vineyard was in 2008. In 2017 we added 2 additional acres of Pommard, Dijon 115 and 777 and for the first time we harvested them in 2020. Wines from this site tend to be powerful yet elegant. Atticus Vineyard is located in the Yamhill Carlton AVA.
Less than 275 cases were made.
