Description
Our 2021 Atticus Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of 62% Pommard and 27% Dijon 667 that were harvested on September 14th of that year. The balance includes Dijon 115 and 777 that were picked on September 3rd. The growing season was interesting once again, with the heat dome effect early in the summer balanced by cooler days later on. We picked earlier than usual and the wines are beautifully nuanced, layered and elegant. The sultry nose invites you with plums and blueberries, candied violets, cocoa, and hints of red velvet cake, black tea and graham cracker. It is dark and meaty in the palate, juicy and beautifully textured. Although young it shows so much promise! While you can enjoy it now it will get even better with 3-4 years aging in bottle. Raised in 29% new oak for 11 months, about 1/3 came from a whole cluster lot from our BLK 2 Pommard. 2/3 of the wine came from free run lots. Less than 150 cases were made. 13% alc.
ATTICUS VINEYARD
The Vineyard which adheres to sustainable farming practices contains Willakenzie soils and sits at an elevation of 300 feet with a south / south-west facing slope. Planted with over 4 acres of Pommard (80%) and Dijon 667 & 777 clones (20%) in 2005, the first vintage from this vineyard was in 2008. In 2017, we added 2 more acres of Pommard, Dijon 115 and 777. Wines from this site tend to be powerful yet elegant. Atticus Vineyard is located in the Yamhill Carlton AVA.
Less than 150 cases were made.
