ATTICUS VINEYARD PINOT NOIR, 2022

$60.00

Our 2022 Atticus Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of 58% Pommard, 28% Dijon 667 and 14% Dijon 777. Harvest dates ranged from October 7th to 15th which was a bit later than average. The wines from this vintage shine. They have power and are also layered and elegant. This wine, in particular, has a classic Atticus nose with black cherries, plums and hints of sweet spice. I also get black tea, cherry pie, cranberries and hints of soy. Dark, yet bright on the palate, with a smooth and graceful texture. It is already very approachable and will continue to get even better with time. Raised in ~20 new oak for 11 months, about 1/4 came from a whole cluster lot from our BLK 1 Dijon 667. 2/3 of the wine came from free run lots. Less than 180 cases were made. 13.6% alc. TO BE RELEASED May 1st.

Description

Our 2022 Atticus Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of 58% Pommard, 28% Dijon 667 and 14% Dijon 777. Harvest dates ranged from October 7th to 15th which was a bit later than average. The growing season was extremely interesting and full of learning opportunities, with a late freeze and snow event in April that led to a 50% loss of our primary buds in the vineyard, followed with the pleasant surprise that our secondary buds were very eager to make up for it. Yields were generous but it was challenging to make decisions around thinning and harvest dates as our sample data was all over the place and different to anything we had seen in the past. I am happy to report that the wines from this vintage shine. It reminds me a little bit of the 2015s. Raised in ~20 new oak for 11 months, about 1/4 came from a whole cluster lot from our BLK 1 Dijon 667. 2/3 of the wine came from free run lots. Less than 180 cases were made. 13.6% alc.
